WAPASU COTTAGE
In Alberta there are so many hidden treasures, if we only take a look around us. Spend your summer at home in Alberta and vacation at your own private cottage. Take a drive east of Edmonton on Highway 16, travel along this highway with all it’s glorious wonders and treasures. First you come across Elk Island Park, as you drive, and especially on a sunny day, you will see many of the buffalo as they graze along the roadside. If you are really lucky you may happen across a moose or deer as well.
Just beyond Elk Island Park there is the Ukrainian Village, a must to visit. This gem is in our backyard and only minutes from Sherwood Park & Edmonton. Take a day from your hectic summer and visit a piece of our history. Just a bit further along the highway is Vegreville, home to the Largest Easter Egg. Ahh, it is summer and what better place to visit and get some oh so fresh strawberries, Hansel & Greta Berry Farm. Check that one out as well.
One hour down this highway, from Edmonton, and you will find the turnoff to Wapasu Lake, a wonderful Birds Paradise, with it’s own Beachside Bed & Breakfast, Conservation Area of 330 acres with many walking trails, and all the sounds of nature. This is country as beautiful and wondrous as destination vacation, but you are still in your home province.
